Our Story

Jonathan and Tammy Bousman welcome you to Blooming Acres Farm! 

In September 2018, little did we know that an older vacant 40-acre farm in Walnut Cove, NC would turn into our “Pick-Your-Own Flower Farm.” However, what we did know is that we immediately fell in love with the property—hills, trees, vibrant sunset, red dirt, old barns, unplowed field—and its unlimited potential. With Jonathan’s strong work ethic and entrepreneurial spirit combined with my background in the corporate world—together as a team, we made this small farm into a home and a place of beauty. 

Deciding to go the flower route is like circling back around to wonderful strong memories. Both of us grew-up with fond experiences of helping our grandparents and parents in vegetable gardens and flower beds. As adults, it feels natural for us to experience that again. It’s been a while since our teenage years with our garden mentors, so we decided to start out slowly on our farm. First, with vegetables—then fruits—then flowers. We got excited watching our labors grow and harvesting the crops. Our “bounty” overflowed! That’s when we started giving away and selling very small quantities to friends and family. 

It was that joy of sharing our crops that produced that “Aha!” moment. Maybe, just maybe, we could enlarge our farm vision and share our joy, beauty, and our farm community with others outside of our circle of family and friends. In the fall of 2022, we birthed our vision— “Blooming Acres Farm!” 

In the Summer of 2023, we plan to open “Blooming Acres Farm” to you.
